This week’s episode of The Big Bang Theory finds Sheldon Cooper faced with the reality that he is being forced to take vacation from work. Rather than taking said vacation, though, Sheldon attempts to sneak into work with Leonard Hofstadter on the following Monday morning. However, Leonard drives him back home instead, and Sheldon is faced with having to make another choice.
The guys try to help him decide where to go, but from Hawaii to Disney World, Sheldon has something negative to say about every suggestion. He finally decides to spend the week with Amy Farrah Fowler, in her biology lab.
Sheldon complains, “I feel like I’m living in a dictatorship. You must take a vacation. You must have fun. You must enjoy life.” So, Sheldon shows up at Amy’s lab on Tuesday, where she will not let him do anything other than washing instruments. She argues that he is not a biologist, so unqualified for such work. Despite the fact that she is right, Sheldon, in his usual arrogant fashion, attempts to convince her otherwise. Sheldon wants to do something entertaining like putting a human ear on the back of a lab rat, but Amy has actual work to do. As can be predicted, the two end up fighting by the end of the episode.
Meanwhile, Bernadette and Howard are going through pre-wedding issues to include the possibility of a prenuptial agreement, or “prenup.” Bernadette makes significantly more money than Howard, and her father is insisting upon the prenup before the wedding. The rumor gets around to Howard before Bernadette can break the news to him, so everyone knows about it before he does. However, the two end up resolving the situation by Howard offering to talk to her gun toting, former police officer father in May while he is on the International Space Station, where her father cannot shoot him.
Amy and Bernadette owe the successful resolution of their respective fights largely to Penny, though. Both Howard and Sheldon show up at the Cheesecake Factory to drink – or rather Howard is drinking; Sheldon has a virgin pina colada. Penny tells Howard to sign whatever prenup Bernadette puts in front of him because he will never get another girlfriend, ever. Penny also straightens Sheldon out, and he ends up apologizing to Amy, who will not let him give her a self-serving apology that makes him feel better. Sheldon mumbles to himself that he will go to Epcot on vacation the next year.
Tune in next week to see what the cast of The Big Bang Theory is up to.
