If you have been going through The Big Bang Theory withdraws, rest assured that you are not the only one ready for regular programming to resume on Thursday nights. Next week, we will all have our chance to see our favorite television scientists back at their antics with “The Transporter Malfunction.”
Next week, Penny gives Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter Star Trek figurines as a thank you gift for something. Sheldon begins to be haunted by the image of Spock, played by Leonard Nimoy himself. Meanwhile, Raj Koothrappali’s parents set their son up on a date. Raj soon reveals that he thinks he has found the future Mrs. Koothrappali in the character we may assume is named Lakshmi.
And then, the next week – as previously announced – Stephen Hawking will be making an appearance on The Big Bang Theory. If highly recognized cultural and scientific icons are a mark of a show’s success, then The Big Bang Theory has certain reached the level of successful television.
Since we are currently without new episodes of The Big Bang Theory, here are some of the best quotes from Season 5:
When Sheldon befriends a blue jay who has taken up residence on his window sill, he enlists the help of Amy Farrah Fowler and Bernadette to deal with it. Amy says the following:
If you’re keeping him, I’ve got a cage you can borrow. One of the test monkeys slipped on a banana peel and broke his neck. It was both tragic and hysterical.
In the same episode, Sheldon talks about ways to rid himself of the bird: Trust me, if I had a death ray, I wouldn’t be living here. I’d be in my lair enjoying the money the people of Earth gave me for not using my death ray.
When Leonard meets a cute comic book store employee and contemplates having a fling with her, Sheldon offers his advice: All right, so the topic at hand is sexual fidelity. Probably won’t be relying on Suess here. Although One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish might be surprisingly applicable here.
In “The Recombination Hypothesis,” Leonard and Penny start dating again. They engage in some quite cute dialogue over dinner:
Leonard: Some kind of nerd?. I’m the king of nerds.
Penny: What does that mean?
Leonard: It means that if someone makes me mad, I won’t help them set up their printer.
Tune back in next week for Leonard Nimoy’s appearance on a new episode of The Big Bang Theory.
